FOR WATERFORD UNION HIGH SCHOOL BOARD

Thank you to all who took the time to research the high school board candidates and to those of you who chose to entrust me with your vote, I am grateful. I am excited to get to work. I look forward to representing you as we make students number one at WUHS! As always, please reach out with concerns or kudos!

HERE IT IS:

I am 100%, whole-heartedly student focused, driven to be fiscally responsible to all tax-payers, and I believe that we must ensure that all stakeholders feel valued and represented.

i believe we must be responsible stewards of our community resources

Taxes! Right? I get it. I am sensitive to the fact that many community members don't directly reap the benefits of financially supporting our school districts. While there are community-wide benefits of being a destination district, it makes little difference when you open your tax bill. We are all called to be good stewards of our money. Well, I believe when you're spending others' money, that responsibility is even greater. We must adhere to our mission when we are creating the budget and asking for additional funding.

i bring a unique perspective

As a former WUHS employee, I have lived the Waterford Union High School way of life for the last 17 years. I see much of the way our money is spent. I see the frustrations and celebrations of staff and students, and I've listened to parents and community members first hand. I am also a parent of a WUHS student. I know that we have one chance to get things right for our kids because the clock doesn't stop during those four years. I know the pulse and breath of this school like no other Board Member does.

servant leadership experience

I served two terms on the Waterford Public Library Board from 2016-2021. It was during this time that I garnered valuable experience working as part of a board which has further prepared me to serve the families of Waterford Union High School on their board. I showed up to meetings prepared, asked questions, engaged the stakeholders, and facilitated growth and improvement in the library's services. It was a time-consuming position, but I am proud of the fact that we facilitated changes that have improved the library's services, and will be a benefit to the community for years to come.

I am student centered

Students are number one in my book. They are the only reason this school exists. At the heart of it, this is who we serve. I fully believe in WUHS's mission statement to inspire all and ensure that each student is prepared for life. It's as simple as that. It is our responsibility to ensure current students and future generations have the best education that we can possibly give them, and I am faithfully dedicated to this mission.

I am invested

I am a parent of Waterford students and an active community member. I have a daughter at WUHS and a son at Woodfield. I take ownership in this community and our awesome school, and I am committed to doing the work for years to come. These are my people. This is my mission. I am a parent, just like you, and want to see our school flourish. I am a tax-payer, just like you, and don't want to see my tax bill increase. I am a community member, just like you, and I know how property values are tied to schools to the benefit or detriment of everyone. Just like you, I want to have it all for my kids, but it is a balancing act where the kids and their needs will always be my first priority.
