About me

Bio

How far back do you want to go? I was born in Milwaukee, raised in Waukesha, moved to Brookfield just before college. Marriage to a WUHS alum brought me to Norway, and then Raymond where I have lived since 2003.

I graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and went on to study at Marquette University, UWM at Waukesha, and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a degree in Horticulture.

After graduation, I became the Ornamental Horticulturist at Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield, then the Herbaceous Plant Buyer for Hawks Nursery in Wauwatosa, and then a Landscape Manager for The Bruce Company in Racine. My career in the Green Industry took a detour when I broke my foot in a horse riding accident. My husband of 11 months suggested I take some time off my feet and substitute teach at the high school for a while. I was petrified at the idea of his suggestion, but my job was pretty physically demanding, so I went out on a limb and interviewed at Waterford Union High School.

I was initially hired as a substitute teacher, but before the school year began, the Superintendent asked if I would be willing to temporarily fill in for the Attendance Office Support Staff. The short-term sub job turned into a full time gig... and I LOVED it! The kids were entertaining, to say the least, the staff was kind beyond belief, and the community I interacted with were supporters of everything Wolverine! I took three years off when my daughter was born, and two years off for my son's arrival, but always came back to WUHS.

I resigned from my position in the Attendance Office in November 2021 and worked through December. It was a tough decision, but without a doubt, the best decision for my family. I do miss it! Maybe not the 5 am wake up calls, but the people of WUHS are second to none. Once a Wolverine, always a Wolverine.

I recently returned to the field of horticulture, and now own my own cut flower business. The flowers are significantly less entertaining and so much more demanding than the students, but I love the challenges that come along with growing!

When I'm not working, you can find me anywhere outside, often on a trail with a dog or two in tow. My guilty pleasure is time spent reading historical fiction, and there is no debate on the subject of power naps.

Family

Sorry friends, I took the best of the best off the market in 2002 and married my best friend in 2003. He is a WUHS alum and has taught Tech Ed at his alma mater since 1997. He is a man of the highest integrity and is genuine through and through. He often tells me I am his "trophy wife - 2nd place" --- but I know without a doubt that I am the one who married up. Unfortunately, he also thinks he is king of dad jokes. When he is not teaching, he is running his hay farm, and helping with the flower farm.

We have a 16 year old who is a junior at the high school. She loves to run cross country and track, and really enjoys the challenge of most academic pursuits. She has been the textbook "easy child" and the reason we thought we were great parents and should have another child.

Our 2nd grader is at Woodfield Elementary and I'm pretty sure his main goal in life is to make sure every hair on my head is gray. He is challenging in every sense of the word, but has a heart of gold and can make you burst out laughing just when you need it. He is the person who taught me most about humility...especially when it comes to being a self-proclaimed parenting expert.

We live on a little piece of land in the Village of Raymond where we house and feed too many furry and feathered friends.

IN SHORT...

I am not a politician. I am not a gifted public speaker. I am not motivated by personal gains.

I do not have all the answers and will not pretend to.

What you need to know is that I take ownership in this community, and I am committed to doing the work to see it flourish. I will do the legwork to ensure that we are taking steps forward --- not sidesteps, and certainly not steps backwards. If we are to move forward, we must do so together. Our school board and school leaders must be mindful of the entirety of our community while we pursue our mission. I am grateful for our current Board Members' for their dedication to our school. I look forward to sharing my expertise and experiences as a board member so that our students, families, and community members are best served.

My only agenda is to ensure that our school is as great as, or better than it has ever been for our current and future students.
